Ever wonder how to fix a boring room? You’ve chosen the perfect paint color. You finally found the most comfortable sofa ever, AND it fits in your living room! There’s plenty of natural light, but something still feels “off”. You have all the right elements, it looks nice, but that’s it.
It’s boring, NOW WHAT?!? What are we missing?
It could be this design element that’s often overlooked. Without it a room feels dull, flat, lifeless, and doesn’t draw you in. Texture.
Texture is the surface quality of an object. That quality that can be seen and touched. Soft, smooth, shiny, matte, and rough. These add visual interest to your room.
Are you like me and run your hand across clothing on the racks when you go shopping? If it feels good you will try it on. If not, you don’t bother. The same thing goes for your house. not only do you want it to look good, you want it to feel good too.
Combining different textures can transform your experience of a room by providing variety, interest, and character.
Do you want to know a quick way to add texture to that sofa? Simple – add a throw and a couple of pillows in different textures. It’s that simple. You can add more later, but start there.
Stick to two or three textures in your accessories so things don’t get too busy and you’re good!
